If you’re buying a gift for someone who carries a gun every day — or someone who is considering it — we’d like to help. First…don’t buy them a gun. That’s a personal choice with lots of regulatory considerations depending on where you live. The NSSF has put together a good guide to dealing with those here. Bottom line: it’s better to give someone a gift card and let them pick out their own gun.
But don’t worry, there are plenty of related items the gun people on your list will appreciate.

Everyone who carries a gun should also carry a light. If you’ve never done that, you’ll be surprised how often they come in handy. One of the best choices — by far — is the Streamlight Wedge XT. It’s has a flat profile and a deep carry clip that makes it ideal for slipping one into
your pocket for all-day carry. It’s USB rechargeable and it also puts out a full 500 lumens. That’s enough to light up just about any situation you’ll find yourself in.

If the gun person on your list is more of a traditionalist, Streamlight has you covered there, too. Their excellent ProTac 1L is a traditional 1AA-powered light that carries well and cranks out a
very healthy 350 lumens. It also has a two-way pocket clip that also lets you attach it to the bill of your cap if the need arises.
Your favorite gun person probably is (or should be) carrying a spare magazine on a regular basis. There’s no better way to do that than with a NeoMag magnetic magazine holder. It’s a titanium clip that attaches to a magazine magnetically, allowing it to be slipped into a pocket for easy carry and quick access.

Every gun owner needs to be able to clean and maintain their gun(s) and that’s doubly important with and everyday carry firearm. That’s why Otis’s Portable Universal Gun Cleaning Kit. Is so great. It’s compact and can be stowed almost anywhere. It’s great to keep one in your car just in case the need arises when you’re away from home (ask us how we know).
Finally, more and more gun owners are adding optics to their carry pistols. If your favorite gun person is one of those, he or she can’t do better than Holosun’s SCS-Carry enclosed emitter reflex sight. It’s small enough to be right at home on a carry pistol and requires no batteries. That’s right, the SCS-Carry sight is solar charged …it will work for 20,000 on a full charge. It also gives you the option of choosing between a 2MOA green dot, a 32 MOA circle or both at the same time.
