NASHVILLE, TN - Sabre Defence Industries, LLC (Sabre Defence) announces the introduction of three new models of its XR15 rifles utilizing a new piston operating system. The three models being offered are the M4 Tactical Piston Carbine, the M5 Tactical Piston Carbine and the Competition Deluxe Piston Carbine.
The M4 and M5 Tactical Piston Carbines are only being offered as top-end models featuring 14.5" and 16" Chrome-Moly Vanadium alloy barrels, Samson Manufacturing Corporation Free-Float Quad-Rail handguards, and Magpul Industries CTR six-position Buttstocks. The Competition Deluxe Piston Rifle features the same high-end accessories but comes with a 16", 18" or 20", 410 Stainless Steel medium weight, mid-length, fluted barrel and Sabre Defence "Gill" muzzle brake.
The new operating system features a short-stroke piston design that eliminates carbon fouling buildup in the receiver by venting gases forward near the gas block and away from the shooter. The lightweight steel gas block is pinned to the barrel for maximum durability. The piston and operating rod are easily removed from the front of the gas block for cleaning. The one-piece bolt carrier is engineered to withstand tens of thousands of rounds without failure and without the problems commonly associated with piston-operated AR15 rifles. All Sabre Defence piston system parts (Gas Block, Piston, Operating Rod and Bolt Carrier) are treated with the extremely tough proprietary IonBond DLC (Diamond-Like Coating) which reduces friction, increases part life, and simplifies cleaning.
The Sabre Defence Piston Carbines will be officially unveiled at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Nevada in January 2010.
