MGM Shooting Team in Texas

(Caldwell, ID) –A weekend of shooting a 3 gun match in the mud and the rain is hard enough, but doing it twice in a row is really tough…especially when the second weekend is in the dark. Over the last two weekends MGM Targets sponsored shooters overcame some very adverse conditions to finish great in both the 3 Gun Nation Southwest Regional in College Station Texas and the Starlight 3 Gun Championships presented by Timney Triggers.

The first weekend was the 3 Gun Nation southwest regional where driving rain and gusting winds made for some challenging courses of fire. Probably more challenging than the weather was the ground conditions. The rain turned the Texas ground into a sticky quagmire that would adhere itself to competitors shoes making them very heavy and very slippery. Battling through the rain and slop, MGM Targets sponsored shooter Wyatt Gibson had a great performance taking the Unlimited division win and missing the overall win by less than 20 seconds over the eight courses of fire. Other notable mentions are Kalani Laker in 4th, Travis Gibson in 5th, and Chuck Anderson in 6th.

After the conclusion of the 3 Gun Nation match, Wyatt, Travis, and Chuck immediately got in the car and drove 3 hours west to Marble Falls Texas to start set up for the Starlight 3 Gun where Chuck was acting as Match Director, Travis was acting as Range Master, and Wyatt was on the set up crew. This was an all night event where all the stages were shot in the dark. It's come to be one of the favorite matches of lots of professional 3 gun competitors.

The first night of the event was beautiful with clear skies and a light wind. The second night proved to be more of a challenge. The rain came and was then followed by the wind. When it was all said and done, MGM Targets sponsored shooters claimed 7 of the top 20 places with Greg Jordan, Jesse Tischauser, Kalani Laker, Wyatt Gibson, and True Pierce finishing 1st, 2nd, 5th, 7th, and 9th respectively. Brian Nelson finished 13th, and BJ Norris rounded out the top 20.

Congrats to all the shooters on the MGM Targets team that braved the rough conditions and made it through unscathed! We're honored to have them all as part of the team!
