The National Rifle Association released a 30-second ad targeting Democrat U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico's support for banning assault weapons and standard-capacity magazines. The ad is part of the NRA's multi-million dollar investment to retain pro-gun majorities in Congress, supported by the Gun Bus tour and grassroots get-out-the-vote efforts across Texas.

According to the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms: "Anti-gun billionaire Michael Bloomberg is continuing what appears to be an attempted 'leveraged buyout' of the Second Amendment as Everytown for Gun Safety—the group he co-founded and bankrolled—has pledged to spend $8 million in Texas; just part of the $60 million that group has vowed to spend in order to elect anti-rights politicians this fall."

In an opinion editorial piece sent to newspapers around the country, Alan Gottlieb, chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, deplored the Democratic Party leadership for endorsing, by their silence, the decision by New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern to ban and confiscate so-called “semiautomatic assault weapons” from citizens in that country.

When Barack Obama commuted the sentences of 214 convicted criminals last week, there were some 50 people on that list whose offenses included either using or carrying a gun at the time. This led the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms to wonder why the president is softer on gun-packing criminals than he is on gun-owning honest citizens.
