Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE: RGR) is proud to announce that it has been honored with multiple awards by the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers (NASGW). Ruger® Firearms was named Manufacturer of the Year for the second consecutive year, while the Ruger American® Rifle Generation II earned the NASGW-POMA Caliber Awards for Best New Rifle and Best New Overall Product. Additionally, Ruger President and CEO Chris Killoy was honored with the NASGW Chairman’s Award.
The annual NASGW Expo and Annual Meeting provides educational, marketing and communications opportunities for hunting and shooting sports wholesalers, manufacturers and sales professionals. The NASGW also uses this event to recognize manufacturers for their accomplishments from the previous year. This year, NASGW members met on October 15 in Kansas City, MO at the Annual Awards Dinner and Reception for the presentation of awards.
The Firearms Manufacturer of the Year recipient is determined by NASGW members who evaluate the performance of manufacturers on four key criteria: distribution policy; marketing, promotions and sales; logistics and operations; and NASGW and industry support. This assessment of manufacturer performance is designed to provide a balanced appraisal that recognizes the best manufacturer in its category according to NASGW members.

The Annual NASGW-POMA Caliber Awards honor the highest caliber new products in seven product categories. The winners for each category are chosen by an independent panel of 18 industry professionals. The Caliber Awards offer a unique, unbiased approach to recognizing and honoring new innovative products. The voting panel is comprised of the people who buy and sell these products on a daily basis as well as the media members who review and report on these products in the field. Judges were asked to consider the uniqueness, market need, the value of the product, the ingenuity and presentation.
Additionally, each year, the NASGW Chairman has the opportunity to recognize an individual in our industry who has made a significant impact. Commitment, longevity and advocacy are key contributors to the selection process. NASGW President Kenyon Gleason commented on Chris Killoy’s honor, saying, "Chris Killoy joins a long list of industry leaders who have been honored by NASGW through the Chairman's Award. Chris is truly deserving of this honor and has been a huge advocate for NASGW and two-step distribution throughout his career."
