However, with the increase in popularity of much slimmer pistols with narrower magazine wells, consumers’ needs changed. In these instances, our standards for a polymer magazine just simply can’t be met due to dimensional restrictions of the magazine well; we’re rising to the challenge to set a new benchmark, this time for metal magazines. Introducing the first Magpul metal mag: the AMAG 17 SG9 for SIG Sauer P320 and M17 pistols.

Magpul’s AMAG series of magazines are built for guns only compatible with metal magazines. The AMAG 17 SG9 is a 17-round SIG 9mm handgun magazine featuring a body made from a low-friction steel alloy, eliminating corrosion while using optimized rib structures for correct round stacking, in turn promoting positive, reliable feeding just like every magazine from Magpul, which is why we stuck to our polymer roots. Magpul SIG magazines come with many of our standard proven features, such as a high-visibility, controlled-tilt follower, and in tandem with the stainless-steel spring – which enhances magazine life and further increases reliability – gives shooters more consistent slide lock back on an empty magazine. Also included is a flared floorplate that’s easily removable for cleaning and routine maintenance, paint-pen dot matrix for magazine marking, and capacity-indicator windows which begin at five (5) rounds, and continue along the spine of the magazine so an exact round count can be clearly seen when the AMAG is outside of the magwell.

In short, though the AMAG 17 SG9 is Magpul’s first metal magazine, it won’t be the last. When polymer magazines can’t work, AMAGs will. Available now at Magpul.com or at local retailers.
