Kelbly Koda Featured In April GUNS

For those who want the best of everything from a semi-custom rifle — straight out of the box — the Kelbly Koda featured in April GUNS fits the bill according to FMG Publications’ Digital Content Editor Serena Juchnowski.

She notes, “The Koda gives shooters and hunters a custom-quality rifle at a much lower price than if they were to upgrade a rifle themselves. This also lowers the barrier to entry into ultra-rifles, providing shooters who don’t have the desire, resources or knowledge to trick out their own firearm.”

There may be no better place to spend a family vacation and learn valuable shooting skills than Gunsite Academy in Paulden, Ariz. Jameson Parker reveals why the instruction, classes and programs offered at the desert destination rival anything with mouse ears. He lends, “It is fun, stressful, exhilarating and extremely educational. To say we had fun is to understate it considerably. We’re already making plans for another family vacation when we return to the happiest place on earth sometime later this year.”

A Shadow Systems XR920 takes top billing in the April GUNS’ Firearms Package Giveaway. It has a compact slide on a full-sized frame with interchangeable backstraps as well as a match-grade, spiral-fluted, threaded-bronze barrel and 17+1 capacity. The lucky winner will also receive a Holosun HS507C X2 open reflex micro red dot optical sight and a SureFire X300U-B weapon-mounted light. The package is valued at $1,915. Readers are encouraged to enter the free drawing at GunsMagazine.com/giveaways.

Other points of interest inside April GUNS include Mike “Duke” Venturino’s thoughtful response to what would be the last rifle to go in Montana Musings. Surprisingly, it is not a collectible, but a “parts” gun. Knives contributor Pat Covert suggests packing an ESEE Knives fixed-blade Xancudo on the next rock-climbing adventure for its excellent specs, including an ovate hole in the handle for a climber’s carabiner. And Editor Brent T. Wheat lives to tell the tale of how a typical day at the office went farther south than a magnetic pole when he managed to shoot himself in “the guts” in GUNS Insider. Relatively calm, room temperature-cool and mostly collected post-incident, Wheat now shares each breath with a lodged fragment of brass.
