Matthew Fehmel as Senior Director, International Sales

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Smith & Wesson Corp. today announced that it has hired Matthew Fehmel to serve as Senior Director of International Sales.  Fehmel joins Smith & Wesson from Colt’s Manufacturing Company, where he was most recently International Sales Director.

Rob Cicero, Vice President, International and Global Professional Sales for Smith & Wesson parent company, American Outdoor Brands, said, “Matt is an accomplished professional and decorated veteran who retired from the United States Marine Corps as a Lieutenant Colonel.  He comes to us with over a decade of international sales experience at Colt Defense and Colt’s Manufacturing Company. In particular, Matt has successfully competed for and won numerous international government contracts and opened new opportunities in growth markets, including the Middle East and Latin America.  His record of success as a leader both in business and in the United States Marine Corps, will make him a tremendous addition to our International Sales team.”

Fehmel joined Colt’s Manufacturing Company LLC in 2011 as the company’s International Sales Director.  In that role he was instrumental in helping the company develop its international presence by leading all aspects of the sales organization, which served a customer base spanning 90 countries and customers from the military, law enforcement, and commercial business markets.   Prior to Colt’s Manufacturing Company, Fehmel joined Colt Defense LLC in 2007, during which time he also served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Marine Corps, Reserve.  At Colt Defense, Fehmel served as International Sales Manager, developing business in over 60 countries and establishing critical sales processes.  Prior to that,Fehmel served as a Major in the United States Marine Corps.  As a unit leader in combat, he commanded more than 100 Marines on numerous counterinsurgency operations in Iraq. He was awarded the Chesty Puller Leadership Award and the Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal with “Combat V”, for valor in combat.

Fehmel is a member of the board of directors of the World Affairs Council of Connecticut, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that promotes greater awareness on important global issues.  He earned his B.A. degree from the University of Rhode Island.
